Volunteer Profile: Cecilia Alvarez

Cecilia is an undergrad student at Rice University, double majoring in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies.  She has been living in Houston for 10 years and plans to attend law school after she graduates next year. In the Spring of 2014, she will be working with La Colmena, a Domestic Workers group at Fe y Justicia Worker Center.

Volunteer Profile: Kaitlyn Bailey

I began volunteering at Fe y Justicia Worker Center through a Public Interest Fellowship granted by University of Houston Law Center. Initially, I was just looking for an internship that would add valuable work experience to my resume. After learning about the organization and the work experience common to so many Houstonians, however, I was ready to join the fight against wage theft and workplace abuse. At our little headquarters, I did casework through the summer, focusing on about twenty clients.
